New York City: The Spartan Race’s creators have unveiled a nonfungible token (NFT) collection that will carve the names of the first owners in stone. They also have plans to erect a 35-foot (10.5 meters) monument in ancient Sparta that would be surrounded by 15,000 such stones.
At the Spartan 300 Memorial, which will honor the legendary Battle of Thermopylae in which 300 Spartans are claimed to have fought and perished, Spartan creator and CEO Joe De Sena wishes to place his ashes under his stone.
300 of the 15,000 NFTs will be “Super Rare,” and owners of those NFTs would be able to scatter their ashes over the monument after passing away. If this happens, the collection may become one of the first NFTcollections to provide someone a place of ultimate rest.
Owners may sell their NFT on exchanges like OpenSea, but it’s not clear whether the buyer receives the burial benefit.
The $3,000 permits provide buyers unrestricted access for up to nine years to all Spartan brand events, including their 70-hour Death Race and Tough Mudder obstacle race, as well as access to exclusive merchandise drops.
NFT holders will also be given access to a special annual event where they may train with professional athletes and test the equipment and obstacles from fitness manufacturers.
Launch of the Star Atlas demo on the Epic Games store
For owners of its NFTs, the Solana-based NFT game Star Atlas released its first playable pre-alpha on September 29 via the Epic Games shop, enabling players to see in-game vehicles they’ve bought within the game’s setting.
In the open-world strategy game Star Atlas, which is set in the year 2620 and features space travel, players may join political groups, mine for minerals to sell on the game’s market, and purchase and trade NFTs that represent various types of vehicles, including spaceships.
The Unreal Engine 5, a 3D production engine introduced in April by Epic Games and utilized in their popular game Fortnite, powers the Showroom pre-alpha demo.
The Foundation Software Development Kit (F-KIT), an open source technology created by the creators of Star Atlas, enables Unreal Engine 5 developers to more easily incorporate their games into the Solana blockchain.
